My experience with dental implants

25 Sep, 2025

Tooth loss is a difficult experience that causes great anxiety and even leaves an unbalanced psychological factor in many people. This prompted us to seek to restore comfort and confidence to these people by presenting my experience with dental implants, because it is not just a medical procedure, but rather a journey to restore smiles, confidence and comfort for these people. It also represents a fundamental factor and complete comfort while eating or talking with people, as Innova Center provides senior doctors who restore your confidence and even help you make this decision without hesitation, taking into account presenting experiences that actually happened on the ground, so do not hesitate to make your decision that restores your confidence and comfort.

Dental implants before and after

A smile is the first thing people notice, so missing teeth can be embarrassing. In light of this, I will share my experience with dental implants and the difference before and after by reviewing the following:

  • Before implantation, the loss of one or more teeth may lead to difficulty in chewing.
  • Possibility of jawbone recession over time.

Speech problems due to spaces between teeth.

  • Negative impact on smile and self-confidence.
  • Whereas if we talk about after the implant, this gives you the natural ability to chew without any pain or similar problems.
  • Maintaining the jaw and its bones from atrophy.
  • You will have improved pronunciation of words with greater clarity and greater confidence.
  • In addition to a natural smile that supports overall appearance and mental health.
  • Through my experience with dental implants, I have realized that this is not just a cosmetic improvement, but rather a comprehensive medical treatment that restores the function of the teeth and provides a healthy balance in the long term.

Do dental implants hurt?

When considering dental implant surgery, you may be concerned about the frequently asked question: "Do dental implants hurt?" Based on my experience with dental implants, the senior doctors at Innova Center confirm this with the following information:

  • One of the doctors at the center told us that there was no pain on the first day, thanks to the effect of the anesthetic.
  • After the anesthesia wears off, the patient may feel slight discomfort and slight bleeding at the site of the dental implant.
  • The doctor continued his discussion about dental implants, explaining that between the second and third day, the pain gradually begins to subside, along with some swelling, but it can be controlled with painkillers.
  • From the third to the seventh day, the pain gradually decreases and even disappears in some patients at this stage.
  • From the seventh to the tenth day, the annoying effects completely disappear and the person returns to practicing many of his normal activities.
  • The expected duration of pain is usually one to two weeks, but if it persists, you must consult a doctor immediately.
  • One doctor confirmed that the recovery experience is not the same for everyone, as it varies depending on the number of teeth implanted. This is what I personally observed in my experience with dental implants.

Prohibited foods after dental implants

After undergoing a dental implant procedure, it is essential to know what you should avoid, whether it be drinks, foods, or unhealthy habits. Through my experience with dental implants, we have documented what we learned below:

  • Completely avoid hot foods and drinks in the first days after the transplant, as they irritate the transplant site.
  • Avoid using a water bottle directly or blowing on something, as these actions may put pressure on the plant and negatively affect it, even causing unnecessary problems.
  • When removing the medical gauze after dental implants, care must be taken not to remove it until approximately an hour and a half has passed to avoid bleeding.
  • Stay away from anxiety and stress completely during the first days after the operation, as the psychological state greatly helps in recovery.
  • If you are a smoker, stop smoking completely, and abstain from drinking alcohol during the recovery period or quit completely.
  • Avoid hard foods such as candy, ice cubes, and nuts, as they can damage the implant, or more precisely, the implanted tooth.
  • Avoid eating crunchy foods such as popcorn and chips, or foods that require chewing effort such as raw meat and vegetables.
  • Be careful not to eat foods that contain strong or hot spices because they can cause pain and irritation at the implant site.
  • Avoid sticky foods such as toffee, caramel, etc., as they stick to the implant and increase the possibility of infection.

Dental implants in the upper jaw

The upper jaw is clearly visible when laughing or smiling, so the steps for implanting it require special precision to achieve an aesthetic result. They are as follows:

  • First, the doctor injects the upper jaw with local anesthesia to relieve pain during the procedure.
  • The doctor then makes a small opening in the gum to reach the bone and prepare it for implantation, which is called a gum incision.
  • The area is cleaned to remove any remaining decayed teeth, if any, and sterilized to prevent infection.
  • At this stage, the doctor places the titanium implants inside the bone. This step is called abutment implantation and is one of the most important steps.
  • The wound is closed with fine sutures to protect the implant site, and the gums are closed.
  • Hence, the patient needs to wait for a period of time until the wound heals and the bone and implant fully fuse. Some describe this period as "my experience with dental implants was comfortable and restored my confidence."
  • After ensuring the successful integration, the doctor installs the external crown to give the artificial tooth a natural appearance. This completes the dental implant placement in the upper jaw, restoring the patient's confidence in his or her condition.

How long does dental implantation take?

Many people may be concerned about getting dental implants because of the length of the procedure, but the results are worth the patience. This period can range from three to six months, but there are factors that depend on this, including:

  • The process of examining the bones and gums to ensure their readiness takes days or weeks, depending on the patient's condition.
  • While the precise and stable implantation and installation phase may only take hours.
  • When it comes to fusion and bone healing, this stage usually lasts from three to six months, and may last up to a year depending on the size of the implant and the patient's bone health. This is rare for some patients.
  • During the healing phase and to ensure a stable implant, you will have regular follow-up with your doctor to monitor the healing of your implant.
  • Through my experience with dental implants, I noticed that the duration is much shorter than some people imagine, in addition to the fact that it restored the smile and self-confidence. In other words, if the duration is long, it is worth it because you will gain confidence.
